Monday Movie Meme- Black and White Pictures

Feature Presentation...
MONDAY MOVIE MEME

A weekly movie meme hosted by The Bumbles Blog. This week is all about your favorite Black and White pictures!

The Bumbles actually chose my first three on their blog....so I'll think of some other ones...

1. Rebecca (1940): "I'm asking you to marry me, you little fool."

2. Pride and Prejudice (1940): "An unhappy alternative is before you, Elizabeth. Your mother will never see you again if you do not marry Mr. Collins. And I will never see you again if you do."

3. Arsenic and Old Lace (1944): Elaine Harper: But Mortimer, you're going to love me for my mind, too.
Mortimer Brewster: One thing at a time!

4. Night of the Living Dead (1968): Johnny: [in a creepy voice] They're coming to get you, Barbara!
Barbara: Stop it! You're ignorant!
Johnny: They're coming for you, Barbara!
Barbara: Stop it! You're acting like a child!
Johnny: They're coming for you!

  2. The only one of these I have not seen is Night of the Living Dead (though after the Halloween episode of Medium I feel like I have), and I love the other three you mentioned. Excellent choices!

  3. Arsenic and Old Lace was absolutely fabulous! Definitely one of my all-time favorites. I wasn't too fond of the 1940 version of P&P, though. The costumes made it look as if it was set in the Civil War.

I will definitely be watching the 1940 version of Rebecca soon! I really liked the newer version I watched, and I think Laurence Olivier was fantastic!

  4. someone else mentioned Rebecca a few posts ago--I want to see that. You have a nice list. I put Arsenic and old lace too.

  5. I loved Rebecca. But then I just read the book and didn't quite remember the story going that way - but I could clearly see some of Hitchcock's scenes playing out in my head as I read along. I am anxious to re-watch it but my VCR is broken so my VHS tape gathers dust as it isn't on Netflix.

I love that quote from Night of the Living Dead! I stayed up uber-late to re-watch that on HD Net one night and loved every moment.

  7. My favorite Arsenic and Old Lace (love that movie!) line is: Insanity doesn't run in my family, it practically gallops. Or something to that effect.
