Movie Review: Northanger Abbey (2007)

Northanger Abbey, Grade: B+

I really enjoyed this version of Northanger Abbey. The 1986 version wasn't very well done, but this version was just delightful. The actor who plays John Thorpe...you just want to strangle them! I love the innocence of Catherine and how she wants to be good and yet she is so naive when it comes to society. We also get a better picture of Isabella and what kind of person she is...her foray with Captain Tilney. I just love the themes of Jane Austen. It's so important to marry for love (and hopefully money as well)!

  1. I really enjoyed this version of Northanger Abbey. The novel was fun, and so is this adaptation. I love Henry Tilney! He's so goofy and lovable. And Catherine is the perfect balance of naiveté and innocence.

  3. I have not see this version. I have only seen the most recent BBC one that they showed last year on PPS. Might have to rent this one. :)

  4. I loved PBS in 2008 when they did all these on Masterpiece Theatre! I have to say that this was probably my least favorite that they had shown but it was still a good movie!
