A Reading Life...hosted by Michelle at The True Book Addict, and also inspired by Lisa at Lit and Life--Life: It Goes On...is a meme where we get to talk about other stuff we're doing in our lives along with reading!
It's been a really rough last month. I had big plans for celebrations and new traditions but they mostly fell through. I did get the Winter Solstice celebrated and that was about it (of course, Xmas and New Year's Eve were a hit). Plus it was a very tough year. So I'm very excited to getting into a brand new year with new possibilities!

Also, the holiday decor must come down this week. We had to take the tree down last week since it was a real tree was drying out fast...but I held off on the rest of the decor. It's sad taking it all down. I love how cozy everything feels during the holidays. It helps take the stress off during the hustle and bustle of the season. But taking it down means I can put it up later ;) And the wheel of life keeps on turning :)
Watching:
- Homeland--Just finished up with the first season!
- Scandal--well, that was finished up 2 weeks ago but I'm behind a season and I can't wait until the third season comes to Netflix. That is one addictive and crazy show!
- Dexter--Just started season four.

For movie night I'll be trying my hand at Blackberry Bramble gelatin shots! I got a calendar that has one or two new jello shot recipes each month and I've decided to try them all...the only drawback is my state of Utah has a limited supply of liquor so I may have to be very creative as I make them!
Grateful For:
Antibiotics! Beds and Netflix. You can tell what I've been doing the last few weeks....
Looking Forward To:
This new year of 2014! Gabe turns the big 5 next month and wants a Minecraft party so Archie and I will have to be pretty creative to get this pulled off. Five means kindergarten in the Fall. I can't believe he's getting so big now!
Pictures:
Despite everyone getting sick the last 3 weeks, we still found ways to have fun on Christmas and New Year's Eve.

Holy crap - Gabe is going to be five?? Even though you show pictures of him and I can clearly see he is nowhere near a toddler, for some reason that's where he's at in my head! I love the idea of movie night - like book club night only with a movie instead of book discussion and every bit as therapeutic!
ReplyDeleteI live for my movie nights. A good movie and friends with wine!
DeleteI can't believe Gabe is almost 5 either. So crazy. So big so fast.
Five?! I was thinking he was closer in age to Gage. Little boys are fun aren't they?
ReplyDeleteI am jealous of your ladies movie night! And the jello shots. What do you mean by Utah has limited liquor? Does that mean they limit how much you buy?
We are halfway through Homeland season 1. I like it, but something seems so off about the Carrie/Brodiie relationship. They bug me.
I'm glad you are all healthy again! I'm still having issues with my head from my pre-Christmas wreck :(
I know, right? Five? Still shocks me too!
DeleteI mean Utah does not allow alcohol to be bought in stores only really low percentage beer in Walmart, etc. They run liquor through the state liquor stores. And their product choices are a little slimmer than say the states surrounding Utah. Like Nevada! So if we special order anything we usually have to order a whole case which gets expensive fast! .
Carrie and Brodie! Yeah! They are messed up. But I love the tension and story!
I hope you get back to your full health soon. I'm so sorry about that accident :(
I've been skipping my Reading Life posts due to my own personal bought with deathly illness requiring antibiotics. Ugh! So glad I'm finally out of the woods, but now I have the Christmas stuff to take down. It is sad, I agree. My boys are going to help me at least. Love the cookies. I totally get the holiday plans going awry. Mine did too. Well, there is always next Christmas, right? Hopefully, my boys and I will be in our own place. I love my mom, but we've been living with her for over a year now and all of us are ready for the situation to change. haha!
ReplyDeleteHopefully, I'll be back with Reading Life this Monday. Have a great weekend!
It's been a sicky winter and I'm not happy. Sorry you have been sick too. Hope you feel better soon!
DeleteLooking forward to your Reading Life posts soon! Good luck getting out of your mom's place :) Hope your weekend is great.
